Been reading up a lot about dogs the past few days and I'll say I've picked up on some cool facts about them. It's interesting how I get excited now to know about these little details I didn't know before. So, here are some of the things I've gathered.
1. Puppies are born into this world blind, deaf and without any teeth.
2. When female and male puppies are playing with each other, the male usually lets the female win even if they have the upper hand.
3. A dog's sense of smell is ten thousand times more powerful than us humans.
4. Contrary to what is previously believed, dogs can see a few ranges of color. Less so than humans but we know now that they do not only see in black and white.
5. Just like humans possess unique fingerprints, dogs have nose structure unique only to them self, a.k.a nose prints. This trait allows you to recognize the dog by their nose prints.
6. The Labrador Retriever is the single most popular breed in quite a few countries, namely the US, UK and Canada.
7. This is interesting for the single guys with dogs. Your chances of getting a girl's phone number increases threefold if your dog is present at the time.
8. Dog sweat through their paws and this is especially noted by their distinct frito or corn chips smell on their paws.
9. A dog can recognize about 150 words on average. That is how they can attribute specific actions to certain words.
10. The US has the highest population of pet dogs of about 75 million. The second position goes to Brazil with a figure of slightly less than half that of the US.
